This, the 16th Rut event organised by The Healey Drivers Club, is a touring assembly in accordance with MSA regulations for classic and sports cars being held on Sunday 8th October. The event is open to vehicles up to the 1980’s, or later marques of significant interest, at the Club’s discretion.
The start location is at Buckfastleigh Railway Station in South Devon with registration, tea and coffee from 8.30am and a first car ‘flag off’ at 9.30am. This year, following feedback from entrants in 2016, to refresh the day, the run is concentrated on Dartmoor and finishing with afternoon tea in West Devon. The route covering approximately 100 miles will take us initially into the rolling countryside of the South Hams before ascending onto the southern slopes of Dartmoor, and then criss-crossing the moor to take in many of its’ beautiful scenic routes before exiting at the north of the National Park onto the rural byways of West Devon and finishing for afternoon tea at 4.00pm at Roadford Lake, Broadwoodwidger.
This year the Club, from the proceeds of this event, will be supporting the charity ’Devon Freewheelers’, ‘Blood Bikes’ who provide an essential blood and medical supplies out of hours service to the NHS throughout Devon and across the South West. See www.bloodbikesdevon.org.uk for further information.
Entrants are requested to complete the form and declaration and return with their cheque, or by email with confirmation of electronic payment, to reach the Event Organiser, at the latest by the closing date of Saturday 30th September 2017.
On receipt your entry will be acknowledged by email and a personal entry number issued. Final information on the Rut will be dispatched to your stated email address after the closing date for entries. Should you not wish to use email as your preferred method of communication, please enclose a SAE with your completed entry form to enable final information to be forwarded to you by postal service, following the 30th September closing date.
The entry list is limited; please book early to avoid disappointment. This is a strictly non-competitive fun day out with a simple to follow route book enabling entrants to travel at their own pace stopping en route at will for a picnic, pub lunch, or just to admire the scenery – and if one is lucky, some of the wild deer roaming on the high moors!
